Planterra Field Trip January 28, 2012

Larry Pliska, the owner of Planterra gave us a great tour of  the greenhouse located on Drake road in West Bloomfield Twp.  Their main focus is office plants, but they do cater to special events such as weddings, parties, fundraisers, etc.  The most interesting display is the "VERTICAL GARDEN".   The wall is comprised of epiphytes, ferns and succulents reclaimed from the benches, walls and the redwood framing of Planterra's former 1930's-era greenhouses.  The spirit of the original greenhouses continues to live on and thrive on Planterra's signature "Living Wall".

Hartland Rotary Club Presentation

Jan and I talked for 20 minutes in front of the Hartland Rotary Club Thursday morning, January 19, 2012 about the Garden club activities/projects such as:  maintenance of the Cromaine library gardens, the Veteran's Blue Star Memorial, community donations, field trips and involvement in the Memorial Day Parade and Heritage Days.  We had a lot of fun and this is a good way of advertizing our club to the community.
