UM Matthaei Botanical Gardens
The Hartland Home & Garden Club first field trip of 2011 found us at the UM Matthaei Botanical Gardens. What a great place to visit when it is very cold and snowy out. The outside trails will have to wait until this summer.

Presentation by American Roots Wildflowers & Native Plants
Trish Hacker Henning, Owner of American Roots Wildflower Nursery gave an informative talk on native plants and wildflowers in our area. In addition, she supplied us with a list of good books and everyone needs to check out: "100 Easy to Grow Native Plants" by Lorraine Johnson and "Landscaping with Native Plants of Michigan" by Lynn M. Steiner.

Trish Hacker Henning, founder and owner of American Roots Wildflower Nursery, will talk about the use of wildflowers in the landscape. Trish is an Advanced master Gardener. She has been active in many wildflower rescues and a leader for Oaklnad Country Planning & Economic Development Services Prairie Restoration.
