Next meeting "grafting" January 8, 2014!

Learn everything there is to know about Grafting, the horticultural practice of uniting parts of two plants so they grow as one, when the Hartland Home and Garden Club meet on January 8 at 6:30 pm at the Hartland Senior Center (located within the Hartland Educational Service Support Center, 9525 Highland Rd (M59).  Mr. Andy Duvall, owner of Duvall Nursery in South Lyon, will be our speaker.  For more information, please call 248.684.1116.

HOSTAS, November 13, 2013 at 6:30 pm!

 

 

 

The Hartland Home and Garden Club will host a program on growing hostas at the Hartland Educational Service Support Center, 9525 E. M-59 in Hartland Township.  Chris Wilson of Hallson Nursery will discuss the varieties, planting, growing and diseases associated with hosta plants.  Call 248.684.1116 for details.

Guests and new members are ALWAYS welcome to our meetings.  Our speaker will be Gretchen Voyle, horticulture educator for the Michigan State University Extension-Livingston County.  Refreshments at 6:30 pm with the speaker presentation at 7:00 pm.

 

We meet at the Hartland Senior Center which is located in the Hartland Educational Support Center (old Hartland High School).  The address is:  9525 Highland Rd. (M 59), Hartland, MI 48353.

Please stop by our beautiful gardens by Friday, September 20th to vote for our Scarecrow.  The categories are:  Most interesting, Most historic and most colorful.  I think we are “Most Historic”.  You can vote either at the Cromaine Library, the Chamber of Commerce or send Jenny an email to your preference at:  jsavage@cromaine.org.

Fourth Annual Garden Crawl

Our "Fourth Annual Garden Crawl" on June 25, 2013 found us at the gardens of Noreen, Shirley and Donna.  The first three pictures illustrated the English style gardens of Noreen, followed by three pictures of the "country ranch" feel of Shirley's gardens.   Our last stop at Donna's gardens found us in a "Fairyland" full of beautiful plants and sculptures.  A great time was had by all!!

District IIB Flower Show Entry March 15 - 17, 2013

 

 

The District IIB Flower show, entitled "Whats In Your Attic" took place in East Lansing over the March 16th week-end.  Our entry received a white ribbon, worth 75 points which was GREAT for our first try.  Thanks go out to Jan, Mary Ann, Anne and Pat M. for coming up with the theme and items.  The judges noted our color scheme was excellent.
